Beginning to understand a little bit after reading more.
Your gut that are your intestines, right?

Very true that food, your digestive system, is very important in the case of psoriasis. From where I come, a doctor that is already working with psoriasis for 25 years has at least found out that psoriasis is caused by a de functioning of the energy cycle of your cells. I have written something about in a writing of myself on the forum over here.

So in that sense it certainly fits that influencing you food can be a way to solve your psoriasis.
There is another guy, someone called Charles, who succeeded in controlling his psoriasis by means of food. His approach is to my idea quite extreme.
You can find his site by searching for "how to beat psoriasis" on google.

Cheers,
Caroline

Yes - your gut is your intestines. Some Dr's believe that an overgrowth of yeast (candida) in your intestines causes inflammation which in turn results in psoriasis and many other ailments. They prescribe resetting your stomach's internal flora (bacteria) by eliminating sugar, alcohol, dairy and gluten for 12 weeks, as well as taking a probiotic (live culture supplemeent). I think the probiotic I am taking is causing the rash - it is quite strong at 50 billion live strains per capsule taken 3x a day. A rash from probiotics is a condition called herxheimer reaction (google it). I have stopped taking the probiotic to see if this is the cause, although they do say that the herxheimer reaction is a sign that your body is releasing toxins and it' a good thing.

Well Kelly, I hope that I do not offend you, that is certainly not my intention, but personally I do not believe in doctors that "believe".
The doctors I met on the subject of psoriasis were either stubborn (but handsome) and prescribed the wrong things, or on the other hand very knowledgeable on the subject with many years of practice in the treatment of psoriasis. They were no dermatologists, but doctors with much knowledge on the functioning of the energy system of the cells in our bodies where the real problem of psoriasis is situated.

But... Maybe important to know for you, they also prescribe a certain diet, where indeed the avoidance of sugar is part of, so you may well be going in the right direction.

Caroline
P.s. I never take probiotics, the times that I did my whole intestines got on the run, or whatever you would call that in English.

No offense taken my dear. Open to any and all suggestions, support and opinions on this board. Probiotics do not have me on the run at all :-)

Just wanted to let everyone know that I spoke w my Dr about the rash. He said it is from Vitamin B and it's called a niacin flush. A common reaction to large doses of Vitamin B. He suggested I stop taking the B complex and keep on with the other supplements and the diet in general.

I'm not going to lie...it's a daily struggle not eating sugar, dairy, gluten or alcohol. This has been my diet for my entire life and I'm nearly 51. Why should 12 weeks without be so hard? Every day I want pasta, bread, a glass of wine or two after work. EVERY DAY.
some days I give in. Most days i don't and I have seen improvement.

I will say one more thing...

You need to look at diet as lifestyle change. If you don't enjoy what you are you doing you will fail. You will notice the cravings will slowly go away if you enjoy the lifestyle change.
