Intro

I just found this forum while browsing reddit and I'm excited to have a group of individuals who help and know what I am going through.

My name is Josh I'm 25 and I have been suffering from psoriasis since the age of 17. It is generally difficult to talk about because it mostly effects my genital region. As of late quarter sized flares have appeared on my lower leg and since the beginning I have had pitted and yellowed nails. Although treatment for those sensitive regions seems to be more difficult.

I have only tried topical solutions like Fluocinonide, Taclonex and over the counter Hydrocortisone 1%. They all seem to work for periods of time but if I slack at all it comes back stronger.

Nice to meet you.
Be sure and give those "sensitive" spots air when ya can! You might look up psoriasin ointment (not gel it burns!) and psoriasin bady wash/shampoo and give it a try.Soap up and let the body wash set for awhile before rinsing.
Also keep things shaved and it will get better and smoother.Something about hair hangs onto the scale.

Hello Josh and you will find a good bunch of people on here who understand and are always willing to share info.

I find psoriasis on the genital region the worse to live with. Try wearing loose fitting cotton underwear, also like Suzy said get rid of the pubic hair it does help.

Another tip I could give you is to use Coconut Oil. I use plenty off it after every shower, but first off maybe try twice a day and slap loads of it on. Make sure you don't get Coconut Milk, it must be the OIL The Coconut Oil is a white solid when cold and turns to liqued when warm, it will melt on body temperature. I get mine from an ethnic cooking store, it's cheaper and doesn't contain any perfumes or additives. Don't worry you won't smell like a Coconut.

The thing that helped me most with this site was the technical and personal information. If you ask for help - people will respond. I think the best thing is "never be alone with psoriasis". In my opinion, these folks are on to something because of their exposure to better or advanced options - at least it seems that way. I was worried either I shared too much or did not share when I needed to. I ran a lot of things by Fred if I was uncertain. Hard to unload private details sometimes. But I felt better when I did.

Thanks guys and gals! I didn't expect so much good advice within 24 hours but it looks like I came to the right place. I'm excited to try a few of the suggested creams and such but no so much the shaving...I'm part Yetti but ill try anything at this point.
