Started getting eye problems after a few weeks on Taltz.
Eyes aching like I was punched in them. It then changed to when I wore glasses to see the PC screen. (quite a lot)
Its now very sunny in the Uk and I have slight head ache and eye ache. I had my last injection 18th April and was about to take it monthly. I missed my last injection, so now just over 5 weeks ago.
I am wanting it out of my system so I know if its Taltz that's causing it.
Opticians tested my eyes in January. They had another look when I started with problems. They couldn't find anything major. My eyes were very slightly dry and my distance vision had deteriorated a little.
I phoned dermatologist personal receptionist and asked if it was ok to stop temporary. Also with the Virus about. She said she had heard of someone else with the same problem.
Got call back with the Ok to stop and see her on review date.
My question is....How long before Taltz is out of my system

Hi Duncan shame about the eye problems it's a shame if it's working well on the psoriasis but a wise precaution to stop
How long is it in your system I'm not sure but the as you were due to start monthly injections I would assume it's getting weak in your body by that point . So my guess is around a month but I'm sure others might know for sure see [post=79648]
I have just been reading an article saying that a rare side effect is conjunctivitis but I'm not sure if that is what you have.

I have just been reading an article saying that a rare side effect is conjunctivitis but I'm not sure if that is what you have. Started on 02/02/2020. Last injection 18/04/2020. Initial 2 injections, followed by 3 more at 2 weekly intervals.
Only 2 months really.
I know its over due, so wearing off but my eyes are getting worse. Guessing it takes time to work and time to get out of my system.
It could still be something else but a side effect is swollen eyes. Good chance its Taltz.
On the up side, my skin is fantastic

The trouble is, you can not see with your skin only feel with it.
Sensible action to check what happens with Taltz out of your system

Personally I wouldn't stop the treatment, but that is the choice you and your dermatologist have to make.
I found sunlight effected my eyes when on Stelara and I have recently asked if others have the same problem with Tremfya [thread=6779]
As for how long to get it out of your system, Mata once explained the term "Half Life" I don't fully understand it to be honest but the Half Life of Taltz is 13 days. To me that means there is only half of it in your body, then it would be 6.5, then 3.25, then 1.6, or thereabouts, then .8.
So Jim's guess of around a month is just over. *But I'm no expert.

So Jim's guess of around a month is just over. *But I'm no expert. I read with half life that if 13 days have passed only 50% of the drug is still in your body,
Then it will take another 13 days to reduce to half of 50%, thus 25%
Then another 13 days, to get to 12,5%
And So on.
Below a given percentage it will not work anymore and with an even lower percentage it will not be detectable anymore.

That makes more sense than what I was thinking.

Yes, I think so too. You was reducing the half-life factor.

Ha I don't even know what day it is.
Carry on.

If it isn't Talt, I can re start treatment. Nothing lost.
