Reducing Acitretin Medication - Thoughts?

Just like any form of psoriasis, PPP can be drug induced as well (as well as with stress). Strangely enough, I get when I take TNFs.

Long term remission is certainly possible as well or potentially a misdiagnosis. Assuming they ruled out a bacterial infection, there are a few other disease that may produce similar rashes.

Yes it has to be said I was under an enormous amount of stress at the time of diagnosis.....

To be honest I was never tested for a bacterial infection, just fast tracked into the world of psoriasis... guess we will never know eh....

A good doctor would be able tell from looking at it, but still should have put more effort into it before prescribing something that would potentially make it impossible to diagnose. But, the medication chosen was the correct one and a good choice.

Not all bacterial infections can be found with the regular test methods.. there are bacteria who can hide themselves in your system, so a test might have come up with nothing.

So just to update this thread........

Today I had a telephone consultation with my consultant derm.....upshot of it is that I have been discharged from Derm Clinic and he is writing to my GP to tell him to refer me back only if I ever need them again.  

I have not taken any medication since last year so around 8-10 months acitretin free - Derm said I am very lucky that my psoriasis appears to be in remission.

I do feel lucky, and grateful that it hasn't re-appeared for around 18 months - 2 years, there is no denying that, so fingers crossed it stays that way... 

I am lucky, I know that big time, but just wanted to update anyone who is interested and commented in the past........

Hey wooley that's great news, I'm so pleased for you let's hope it stays away for good, I remember you arriving here around 3 years ago with terrible problems with your feet and to now read that the hospital has discharged you is brilliant
