Yes fumaderm is cheap at around €2 each tablet as opposed to methotrexate costing a few cents each tablet
I hope my post didn't look as if I was supporting the use of methotrexate far from it after my experience of it. I was merely pointing out why I think it is still used

And I was answering because It only seems cheaper in the short run, but in the long run the effects prove to worse and make life expensive for everyone.

Indeed DMF and the Bios are cheaper in the long term view.

Jim,

As Skilarence you pay €16.66 per gram for your DMF. I pay 2.5cents US per gram for my DMF, which is much less than methotrexate would cost me (about $50AU per 10mg weekly dose per year for mtx vs a bit over $2AU per 1.2 gram weekly dose per year for DMF). I have read of people with RA taking methotrexate for decades without ill effect, so I agree with you that it should remain a treatment option despite its imperfections.
