Has anyone experienced a correlation with high blood pressure medication and onset of psoriasis? Curious.

Sorry I don't have high blood pressure. But I will move this thread to Psoriasis And Psoriatic Arthritis Topics as it's better suited there.

Welcome to Psoriasis Club by the way.  Wave

I would not know either Valerie.

It is said, that stress is an important factor in the start of psoriasis. And i must say that I personally recognise that.
It may very well be that there is also a relationship between stress and high blood pressure, I think that is even relatively common.

So well, seen from that point of view it is possible, but what is first? The stress or the high blood pressure.

Welcome to Psoriasisclub by the way Smile

Yes, some can cause drug induced psoriasis.

Hi Valerie and Welcome to the club, that's a very interesting question, which unfortunately I don't know the answer either. What I believe though is that they could have been a trigger, there are countless triggers that cause psoriasis to flare and everyone is different, for some its stress or a traumatic experience, for others it's strep throat....it could be the high blood pressure caused it, not the medication....whatever it is I hope you haven't got it too severely....

You don't say if you are being treated for your psoriasis, it would be interesting to know, and why you think the blood pressure medication could have caused yours Thumb

Thank you for the welcomes!
To give a bit of history about my situation and why I asked the high blood pressure medication correlation question-
I believe it was 16 years ago I was afflicted with psoriasis and was eventually directed to clinic trial studies. My experience there was mainly with biologics and some with great success however the studies all have their time limit and eventually overtime without treatment the psoriasis would come back. At this time there is nothing available for me and I'm in a high moderate (severe?) state and have very recently started methotrexate which got me on the computer quite bit researching. Interestingly enough it was around the same time when the psoriasis started so many years ago that I prescribed an ACE inhibitor class of high blood pressure medication and have been on it ever since. Prior to that I was administered limited shots of prednisone for medical situation at that time. I had asked the doctor why I never experienced any psoriasis in my younger years (thank goodness) and there was no family history of it. It was explained to me that it was something always genetically in me but only presented itself later in life. Over time I occasionally thought it it might have been the prednisone that kicked things off but now have run across some studies suggesting that ACE inhibitors and Beta Blocker types of high blood pressure medication may have played a part so I was curious if any out there had similar experiences/thoughts about this. Thanks mataribot for narrowing in on the term 'drug induced psoriasis' to help with my research on this. Thank you all for your comments, I look forward to more feedback and being part of the psoriasis club.
