I was pretty clear on methotrexate but when they lowered me to a maintainance dose it came back and even upping it again never helped so I was put on cyclosporin which worked great and fast!!....but my hospital only puts people on it for a year so I had to stop!...it has been a year since I took anything but I am pretty bad at the moment so I'm hoping the Acitretin will work!!!

Good luck with that Fingers I hope it gives you clearance if you have problems with it mention Fumaderm that I am on to your dermatologist .... It's a great drug and has had me clear and virtually side effect free for 4 years with just  the odd blip  

Thanks Jim!!....i think if the acitretin fais the next step will be the Biological drugs!!!!....but they said i have to of failed on 3 conventional drug treatments first.............all down to the  expence i guess!

Well Fumaderm, or DMF, is cheaper than biologicals and if it works for you than it can work for a long time without problems.

Is Fumaderm available in the Uk?  i will definately ask about it!!!!!

Yes it is available here in the UK but has to be prescribed by your dermatologist if you look through here there are lots of threads about fumaderm
I have been clear on it for four years and if, and  I doubt Acetretin will fail but if it does it's well worth pushing for fumaderm it's been in use in Germany for over 30 years with great success ... It does have to be monitored as most of the treatments do and adjust doses according to blood results.. But You must cross that bridge when you come to it

Welcome fingers to what is a really great site, if you can't find an answer to your question about P on here there is not one, everyone has P and/or PsA as well and they can speak from experience not theory.  Enjoy yourself as the inmates for the majority only are barmy for some of the time apart from several who I will not mention who are barmy all the time and not sensible like what I am.
I was on MTX for 9 years in total and had to give up after increasing side effects but when you mentioned Cyclosporine it brought back nightmares as for me it was horrendous which just shows that everyone is different. I am on Stelara now and for me it has been fantastic with no side effects to speak of and 99% clearance which when I was on MTX 80% was the best I got.

I have just realised what the Acitretin is, make sure that you have all your nails cut and manicured that was the drug that caused me ingrowing toe nails and I had to have my two big toe nails off.
