Hi Forest,

The problems with shingles often start after the infection. I have paraesthesia and partial paralysis along with a variable itch. Once you realise you have shingles you need antivirals asap as it is the best way to avoid complications.

Hi Caroline,

Good that you are managing on less. I still like to dose for a few days in a row on occasion as it has a good effect on the disease.

Cheers

That's interesting, thanks guys.

I currently have covid but was told I can still take skillerence, so that's what I've been doing. Would you recommend stopping for a while?

Have you tried any other medications for psoriasis?  I wonder if the Skilarence has so much cramping and is difficult to tolerate, then could you try something else?

I don't know about stopping the medication while you recover from covid.  I do hope you feel better quickly and that your covid is mild and brief.

Over here in NL, there has been no advice to stop taking DMF.
But if you feel better stopping…. Then stop..

Yes, it is a frustration over here in NL that they did not make Skilarence in a slow release form. In that way the cramping is greatly reduced. We have a slow release version called Psorinovo, which is made by a drugstore over here and where more than 1000 people are reporting to have no problem with the cramping at all.

Unfortunately the “A**holes” of Almirall, the producers of Skilarence, are suing this drugstore in order to prevent the production of Psorinovo.

I wont take dmf if I have a viral infection as it suppresses my immune response. A viral vector was being developed for a cancer therapy some years ago and the researchers were looking at using dmf concurrently to improve its efficacy. JC virus can also be activated in some people if enough t cells are knocked out. Dmf might have an effect suppressing a cytokine storm in covid, but that idea doesn't seem to have come to anything.

Cheers

I hope you get better soon! Bigarm

I don't know anything about stopping skilarence but wanted to wish you well anyway.

I stopped when I had it as it does no harm to stop taking it for a while . My reason for stopping was that I had awful diarrhea with my covid and didn't want the Skilarence to make it worse (although I don't think it could have been much worse ) I'm sure if I had active psoriasis I would have continued taking it.  I kept taking it  throughout my treatment for prostate cancer a few years ago with no adverse effect
