I have to say it’s the best one I’ve seen or been in, it’s easy to navigate and welcoming.
I like the non psoriasis boards a lot too, because although at times psoriasis can be a bit all consuming when you are itchy, sore or whatever, there’s much more to life and it really gives shape to those who take part. If it were just about the P I would probably only pop in occasionally.
I wouldn’t feel comfortable giving the information I give here on other forums but I am very happy with Fred’s approach and I know he and others are keeping watch on it all.

The weird forum called Psoriasisclub

In fact the question is: “Why has Psoriasisclub the nature that we see?”

I think there are a lot of factors that play a role in the nature of Psoriasisclub.
I visit other forums some times, of many kinds and types, e.g. photography, motorcycles, sometimes a technical forum though they are hard to understand, etcetera.
They are mostly helpful also, but have a different atmosphere.

Sometimes I visit facebook psoriasis sites, facebook is kind of a fehtherlight streaming forum with a very low span of attention. And over there I read a lot of nonsense and weird idea on psoriasis. There is a forum of the dutch association, where I sometimes post. They are reasonably good, but there is not so much activity.

So that winds back to partly what Forest said about psoriasisclub concerning adverts and integrity. But there is more to psoriasisclub.
There is knowledge and experience over here. The members together have gathered immense experience, without forcing that experience to others. They tell other members with questions about their personal experiences with medication or show the way to members that do have experience.
It is a factor that is greatly missed by industry. Yes there is scientific research and statistical proof, but to gain real insight you must dive in to personal experiences.

The strong point is that psoriasisclub has grown into a group of knowledged and friendly friends, spread out over the world, who have never met each other, mostly have never seen each other, but still are friends.

The club has, thanks to Fred, a number of simple rules where above all the rule is to respect each other, and for some reason that really works very well with psoriasisclub.

The club also thanks to Fred, has always the newest news facts about psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis. I have never seen that anywhere else. I even know that e.g. in the Netherlands the medical inspections (IGJ) has the weird philosophy that this kind of news should not given to patient as not to give them too much hope. Now that is a weird philosophy.

The club also has a lot of humour and interesse in each other’s life outside the psoriasis life. Half of what is posted is not about psoriasis but about a lot of other things in life, where we all have our opinions about, sometimes very different and the way that we discuss that has already learnt me lot of things and sometimes changed my view to things that I was sure of.

And last but not least the club has a great Staff… Kind of weird combination… a cow girl from the States, a fossil seeking gentleman from England, an English speaking hermit living unfindable in the country of France and a Dutch motorcycle girl dancing through life.

But…. It all works. and I bet this is not all that can be said about psoriasisclub.

I though I would write a few words about why I joined the club and what it means to me

I joined the forum in October 2013 When I had problems with my psoriasis medication, I didn't know where to get impartial advice, I searched the Internet but was unable to find any answers until I stumbled onto this site..

I had never been on a forum before and found it difficult to pluck up the courage to post my first question and was pleasantly surprised by the fast friendly response I received......it certainly encouraged me to return and reply to the answers I got....up until I joined this club, I had managed alone through my life with this awful disease trying to keep it hidden, ashamed of the flaky trail I left wherever I went....I always felt that I was alone even when in company the psoriasis is always your dark secret ....family try to understand but can't know how it feels to live with the disease

So coming here was a revelation to me that I wasn't alone and there were people out there with the same problems as me
I find the site very helpful as there are updates on a regular basis of the latest developments of psoriasis treatments, and the members generally keep us updated on their progress ...enabling me to understand more about the disease and the best way to treat it, as told by members,

I like the fact there are very few rules and those that there are are to keep the site safe from spammers and advertisers. Most of the rules are just common sense and easy to abide by. I would sometimes like to give an outside link to some information, but I understand the reasons we don't allow it. The site is totally independent and privately funded, giving all members free access to all the information without requests for donations

I'm of the opinion that if the site has been successful since 2011 it must be doing something right.

I love he ease of navigation and how if lost someone will always help.

I have found it rewarding to be able to talk with new members and try to help them deal with the disease and tell of my experience.....

I would say that although this was the first forum I ever joined I have visited many since but I find this one the most useful and friendly which is why I keep coming back, and am glad that I was made a forum helper

I have watched the forum flourish over the three years I have been here with a steadily growing friendly membership from around the world

After I joined I was soon posting jokes in the off topic section, and after a while started to post photos in the members photos section .....The off topic section is filled with all manner of topics from gardening to pets ..Railways to holidays you name it it's probably there

In summary this is more than just another psoriasis forum ( although in my opinion the best) it is also a place to forge friendships and comradeship with others with the disease

I have some feedback about your office staff. I have tried for a month to contact the director of this website 4 times now and have not received an answer. I think your office staff should have answered me or at the very least let me know they have passed my email on to the director whom I had addressed it to. I am very disappointed that I have had to register as a member to try and speak to the director. So will someone please get in tough with the director and tell him or her that I wish to discuss advertising my website on this forum. I manufacture and sell my own psoriasis and eczema cream that can help all of your members.

In exchange for an article on this forum and a link on your links page I would be prepared to offer all of your members a generous 30% discount. I am also prepared to offer an annual payment of $100 to your donations page.

You can contact me via the email address I used to register. This is the same email I used to try and contact the director that your staff did not pass on.
Not sure if this has been suggested before but I found a mod that will allow users to tag people on the forum and they are sent a PM and told about it so they can go into the thread where they are mentioned.

(not sure if this works with 1.8 but i think its possible to configure it to do so.)
Yesterday / earlier when i was mentioned in the compliment's thread I had no idea until I went through and checked unread posts, this would definitely speed up gaining people attention imo.

Hello my name is Vanda and I don't use forums Facebook or Twiiter but after finding this website a year ago I wanted to come and let you know that this is the best psoriasis website I have found. Yesterday I contacted psoriasis club as I wanted to post my feedback and a nice man named Fred replied almost immediately explaining that only members could give feedback on the website. He gave me two options, I could reply to his email or follow the link and register to post my feedback. I thought how refreshingly honest of psoriasis club it was to let people post feedback without asking what it was about.

I have had psoriasis for 8 years and I had got to the stage of giving up on life as it had taken me over. My doctor tried with all sorts of creams but although it did help for a while, it would suddenly come back again mostly on my legs and my husband always said I had the most beautiful legs. He still tries to tell me that and he is so good to me putting up with my moods when I just don't have any confidence left any more to show my legs to anyone.

After researching the internet I found some websites and was amazed at the information available sometimes it was just to much to take in and I would just break down and sob, some of those websites looked to be wanting to sell me something and some looked like they are run by the makers of my creams. I kept on looking and with my husbands help narrowed my search down to three websites to read, there was lot's of useful information but not being the sort of person to use a website I just kept on reading.

Please forgive me I will finish now as I have taken up so much of your time, I just wanted to come and say thank you very very much psoriasis club for all of the information and hope that you have given me. I now no longer look at the other two websites any more as this one has the best information and encouraged me to get an appointment with a dermatologist which I have done and things are now going well for me again

Thank you psoriasis club for being here and not showing me product placement or asking me to donate, though if you would accept a donation from me I would like to know how I could do this.

With my deepest thanks Vanda.

I think it only fitting at this point to mention that FRED has put so much work into this site, it is only fitting that we say a MASSIVE thank you for all that he has done.
Not only has he researched all of the info that we can access, but he has been an all round great guy (and comedien) who has helped all of us here, no matter who we are, and given us great advice.
We really do owe him a massive thank you from all over the world for providing us with a wealth of information about drugs, trials, etc., and above all introducing us to each other, to share out experiences about our shared condition.
Hip Hip hooray to Fred, our mentor, and a massive thankk you for what he has done for our Psoriasis community.
