Here in the United States it is illegal to give someone (most) prescription drugs.  I added the most as since we have 50 states possibly with each having their own laws that govern it I can't say for absolute certain that it applies to every single drug in every single state as most of the concern is for controlled substances.  But also with living in the land of litigation, should you give someone a prescription drug and they have a reaction, my guess is that under certain circumstances you could be held responsible if they wanted to sue you.

Since the question came from CA, I wouldn't risk giving it to anyone simply due to the possible side effects and issues it could cause even if it is ok legally to give it away.  However, each country has it's own rules so before I'd give it to anyone I would definitely check out the laws and regulations as KatT has said to be on the safe side.

Updating this as I was curious so dug a little deeper. I thought "controlled substances" meant drugs such as opiates, stimulants, etc so I looked it up. There is a list of controlled substances put out by the department of justice and those are indeed the addictive type drugs (mostly) But the problem is that a prescribed drug (whether a controlled substance or not) can only be prescribed by certain people (doctor's etc) and the drug is only for the use of the person it is prescribed for. So if I give someone a prescribed medicine (even if not a controlled substance) in the US, it would be illegal because I am not authorized to prescribe medication. So for us Americans it would be unwise to give it to another.
