AbbVie to take Nimbles IL23R for psoriasis - Fred - Sat-14-12-2024
AbbVie have paid $200 million to get Nimble Therapeutics investigational oral peptide IL23R inhibitor in preclinical development for the treatment of psoriasis.

IL-23R is a receptor involved in the IL-23/IL-17 immune pathway, crucial in the pathogenesis of psoriasis and IBD. Upregulation of IL-23R expression is associated with increased susceptibility to IL-23 signaling, amplifying inflammation and immune responses in psoriasis and inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), and underpinning the significant clinical efficacy of IL-23 blocking antibodies in these diseases. I don’t see how an oral option for IL23 is going be better than the biologics. My guess it’s going to be worse overall. But guess will have to wait and see.

Depends on how effectively is will pass the bowel into the body I guess. I love the idea of oral medication versus injections.

Yes only time will tell, but I prefer injections. Having said that there isn't much else for me to try, so if it came down it I would have to try but I've found 23s are not so good.

If an oral worked as well as an injection, it would eliminate a lot of waste in both manufacture and disposal of syringe and pen.

It’s much easier to take a shot every month or so vs having to take a pill daily. If the adverse side effects are worse than shots, I don’t see many Dermatologists prescribing them here in US. I wonder what the dosing scheme will be…

Well I can’t add to that as I have never had injections, only pills, which I consider as easy and so not longing for injections.

I don't find a pill or an injection easier than the other to be honest. There could be arguments (as far as ease) on which is best but I would imagine that it comes to personal preference.

Shots get a bad reputation because of auto injections and lack of training on how to administer them. There’s very little to no pain involved with syringes if done correctly.
