I don't like admitting it but I have no idea what or how you Twitter 
Although I work in the technology industry and should understand Twitter i don't, some people are very good at using it. I have tried but simply did not get it at all. However I do see that it is useful if you know what you are doing!
I only use it to follow friends and see what's happening locally
It's easy to just look to see what's happening locally on the day or what your friends or clubs have tweeted
I retweet some funnies and a few political things and the odd photo
I think it is a very up to date medium to stay up to date with what is happening on certain subjects you are intrested in or you get handed over by the ones you follow who feel that it is important.
It is also a great way to check what is going on if something occurs in your neighbourhood, e.g. Suddenly a motorway gets stuck or there is a helicopter all the time flying around or there is a big fire somewhere. But you have to be critical not everything is true, they are all interpretations of people.

I agree Caroline and just follow a few you want to see or your timeline gets filled with junk
I can't understand these people that try to get loads of followers just so they can brag about numbers
I just follow a few friends and family and a few others I find interesting
I don't use it a huge amount, but it is very handy for getting updated information on a specific subject, business, news item or person etc.
I have 12 accounts and use them for different things.

It's easy to work and as for what is on it, it's what ever you want. You can tailor it to your needs and follow or block who you want. I even found out you can also Mute people that are boring you for a while if you want.
