Pregnancy - treatments other than topicals and UVB?
Just wondered if anyone can advise me
I am currently waiting for my derm appt, which will take up to 13 weeks. I have a large percentage of coverage, including face, scalp, palms and soles of my feet. I have plaques and lots of small patches, so I struggle with putting on topicals. My question is this: am I likely to be offered anything other than topical treatments while I am trying to get pregnant? |

I'm not certain, but I wouldn't have thought so.
I will send a PM to Hanna, she may have more information for you. |

RE: Pregnancy - treatments other than topicals and UVB?
Hi
![]() With my situation I could use some topical things mainly coal tar products, but if you have a large covering it might be pointless, I was offered UVB treatment and was receiving that in my early stages of pregnancy, UVB has always helped me ![]() I was on cyclosporin previous to this and planned with my Derm about pregnancy As for medication they shouldn't really offer it to you unless a very extreme case as all meds tend to be immunosuppressive and can cause birth defects and miscarriage also if you take meds you need to know the wash out periods before trying for a baby! Do make sure you tell them you are trying as some steroid creams are very strong, I refused to use any myself due to 90% covered and they don't know the affects of the creams on unborn babies. Nearly most women find psoriasis improves with pregnancy,my derm said its only about 15% who find it get worse (lucky me) Also if both you and your partner have psoriasis its 50/50 if your baby will get it, or if just you it's 1 in 10! I found that my skin has started improve since having my little girl 8 weeks today awe .... But most importantly don't stress and enjoy trying to get pregnant Fingers crossed you are pregnant soon. Any other questions please PM me as I will get that quicker xxx |
